'Glide' into winter

With the close of the Natural History Museum’s annual ice rink last year, many people have been left looking to one of the many alternative ice rinks on offer. Coincidentally, this year saw the opening of Battersea Power Station as a new shopping centre, and with that came the launch of a new ice rink – Glide at Battersea Power Station.

The ice rink, much like the one at the Natural History Museum, had a Christmas tree placed at the centre, creating a festive atmosphere despite the cloudy day, with the lights from the rides surrounding it also contributing. An assortment of Christmas songs was played through the loudspeakers, too. Then, of course, the ice skating itself depended on skill – but there were plenty of staff to help out.

The rink is situated between the Power Station and the river. Emilia Lovering, a student, said: “I really liked it; it’s a spacious rink with excellent views of the river and the Power Station.”

A trip to Battersea Power Station could prove to be a fun day out. With the new refurbishment of the Power Station into a shopping centre, containing shops and food places, you are sure to find something to entertain everyone.
