Dance academy gets 'Forever home'

A dance academy recently opened its own modern dance studio in the heart of Orpington, after 27 years of renting halls. The first classes were held at Lucy Griffiths Dance and Theatre Academy’s (LGA’s) new studio on September 26, with a grand opening on October 9.

“I’m delighted we have finally been able to welcome students into our forever home,” Lucy Griffiths, founder of LGA said. “Students were thrilled to move all weekday classes to the new studio, and could not wait to dance there.“

Personally, I have danced here since I was three and was extremely excited about a new studio, built specifically for our academy to dance in. Previously, we have had classes in schools and church halls, so to have our own space means a lot. It was amazing seeing the space for the first time, seeing how new and professional it looked. At the grand opening, all pupils were invited for classes, workshops from a West End performer, and showcases-a fun day at the new studio. LGA will now be able to offer holiday workshops, courses and parties; have its own venue to hold exams and rehearsals in; and start running its very own talent agency. LGA offers a wide range of dance classes, including ballet, tap, modern, acrobatic arts, street dance and theatre performance, as well as squads who regularly compete. They offer classes for all ages, preschool to adult. Showcases are regularly held in which students get the chance to experience performing on stage at a theatre.
