Crystal Palace goes plant based

Shopfront of M&W

Crystal Palace's newest restaurant is 100% plant based! Morgan & Watson opened in November 2021, named after the two co-founders of The Vegan Society: Dorothy Morgan and Donald Watson. M&W owner says, "We wanted to provide the community with really delicious food that would put smiles on the faces of vegans and make omnivores forget that there isn't any meat in the dishes."

On Westow Street, in the heart of the Crystal Palace triangle, Morgan & Watson is dog-friendly and has a warm and cosy ambience. Quirky artwork lines the walls and animal-themed wallpaper strikes a humorous note. Previously Domalis, locals can rely on this establishment remaining meatless and hopefully it will continue to thrive. I was lucky enough to visit Morgan & Watson earlier this week, having turned vegan myself recently in August. In most restaurants vegan options are limited and so I was very excited to have been able to eat everything on the menu. Having only been open for six days, it was heartwarming to see how busy and popular the restaurant was already. The menu included many popular traditional dishes such as: pot pie, cauliflower cheese, gnocchi, tempeh and a variety of sunday roasts but with a vegan twist. Instead of chicken pieces in the pot pie, for example, chestnut mushrooms were substituted. The puddings in particular were a big hit. These included: apple crumble and custard, sticky toffee pudding and blackberry trifle. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, with generous portions and welcoming and friendly staff. If you're looking for an ethical and tasty place to eat, look no further than Morgan & Watson.
