Thursday the 24 November marked the arrival of Teddington’s annual ‘lights up’ festival, welcoming the beginning of the festive season for locals.
From 4pm until 8pm, roads were closed in order to facilitate the early Christmas celebration. The festivities stretched across the length of the high street and offered a range of fun for all ages, bringing the community of Teddington together.
Despite concerns over rising energy prices, residents were cheered to see Teddington decked out in its usual holiday decor. From a large Christmas tree to colourful lights lining the streets, Teddington was definitely looking its best for the festivities.
The night was all about celebration, and at one end of the high street crowds were entertained by live music throughout the night, blasting Christmas classics and old favourites. Only a short walk away was a completely different scene, as Teddington Hardware played its usual set of Bollywood classics and 2000’s nostalgia to get the crowds dancing.
Other attractions included some fairground rides, colourful light sticks and what seemed like thousands of food stalls. From sweet treats to pizzas, there was no end of choices for the crowds. When interviewed, local resident Grace Pearson said: “It’s always great fun and I'm looking forward to coming again next year!’ And that truly sums up the feel of the night, as the community of Teddington really came together to welcome in the festive season.
